Barack Obama’s Early Life
Barrack was born on August 4, 1961, in Honolulu, Hawaii. He was the only president to date who was born outside of 48 states. He was born to Ann Dunham and his father Barack Obama senior who met each other in 1960 in a Russian language class at the University of Hawaii at Manoa where his father on a scholarship as a foreign student from Kenya. Soon after Barack was born his parents divorced in march 1964 after which his father returned to Kenya and married for the third time and he only visits his son once at Christmas in 1971 before he was killed in a vehicle accident in 1982.

At the age of six, he moved to Indonesia with his mother to join his stepfather where he attended local Indonesian language schools for three and half years after that he was homeschooled by his mother to learn the English language and he was very fluent in speaking the Indonesian language as a child. In 1971 Obama returned to his motherland Honolulu to live with his maternal grandparents while his mother and step sister with his stepfather in Indonesia. He completed his graduation from high school in 1979 and moved to Los Angeles on a full scholarship to study at Occidental College where he also made his first speech on the topic of disinvestment from South Africa. In his early twenties, he visited his mother and half-sister in Indonesia and also visited some of his friends in Pakistan and India for a span of three weeks.
